Skittles Candy is not originally from the US. According to Mars company sources, the History of Skittles candy had its beginning in the United Kingdom. So what seems like eons, before you could actually buy Skittles online, the Skittles Original Fruit Flavors were first introduced in the United States in 1974. Then in that momentous year for Skittles candy history, they started to be imported for sale in the United States, for the very first time. They continued to be produced in Europe for about eight years more years.

Finally in the year 1982, the Skittles Sweets that were sold in the US also began to be produced in the US. This opened the Skittle Candy floodgates for America to enjoy a virtually unlimited flow of Skittle Candy delight. What kind of flow? Somewhere to the tune of 200 millions individual Skittles morsels every day. Hmmm - What to do with all those Skittles?

American youths are very innovative bunch. They found loftier applications for the hard shell treats just as the unsuspecting African tribe in the film 'The Gods Must be Crazy found varied uses for the Coke Bottle that has dropped in on them from out of the blue skies one day. After some experimentation American kids found that these round, shell-like objects besides tasting great, also served as formidable projectiles to be launched at one another during lazy afternoons when their history lessons grew a tad weary. As the studies continued, these young pioneers were able to determine that the Skittles candies chewy central core served a dual purpose. They were great little snacks and all, but the soft cores gave the candy excellent shock-absorption characteristics. So dropping and bouncing them at varied heights and speeds without destroying the full integrity , and of course flavor, of these non-incendiary devices, filled countless unproductive homework hours.

Skittles Chewy Candy Trivia:
It takes around 8 hours to put the candy coating on the outside of the fruit center.

Some history of the producers Mars candy company.... Frank C. Mars and his dear wife Ethel started the Mars company back in the year 1911. As a young lad, Frank was making candy with his Mother (along with apple pies of course). Later, he and his lovely wife Ethel began producing candy in their own kitchen in Tacoma, Washington . It was from these humble beginnings, that the giant, multinational Mars candy company was grown.

Skittles Original:
The "Skittles Original Fruit" package consists of the a number of Skittles flavors: Orange, Lemon, Lime, Grape, Strawberry.

Their varied colors and flavors make for excellent camouflage so when shopping abroad in international candy shops and variety stores beware these tiny tested and true commandos. All to often stow away on unsuspecting tourist carriers and find their way to distant shores where along with spread of good cheer also leave a fair share of gentle havoc on the teeth and gums of unsuspecting millions. So the history of Skittles Candy continues to be written as this popular candy traverses the globe unrestrained.

Hello Manufacturers of Skittles Candy!!!

As you obviously know, the sudden attention given to the Trayvon Martin case has significantly increased your sales and the general attention given to your product. I am curious to know if your organization stand for justice and fair treatment of the law? Given your position on Justice in America in general, have you considered making a financial contribution to the Martin family to assist them in their fight for Justice?
